Kenyon College, a more intimate school with Episcopal roots, is third on this year's list. "Kenyon's affiliation with the Episcopal community is a cherished link to its distinguished history as the oldest private liberal arts college in Ohio," says Mark Ellis, the college's news director. "If that religious affiliation does not permeate campus life now as it once did, it's a potent reminder of the importance of compassion, community service and moral conduct."

Centre College is #1? Fuck that shit. Centre always struck me as the school for Kentucky's high-performing students that didn't have the ambition or volition to leave the state.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I notice the large number of Presbyterian-affiliated colleges, so go us.
Also too, where's Earlham? That place is Quaker as fuck and they're a totally decent institution.
Also also too, Transylvania is ranked? Are they seriously trying to say that two of the top 20 schools in ANY category are in KENTUCKY? These ratings puff pieces are such bullshit.
I don't know if I'm with you on Centre: "17 Fulbright scholars, five Goldwater scholars, a Rhodes scholar and a Truman scholar in the last decade alone." Combined with the fact that they're less competitive than Kenyon and more middle-class/working class (virtually all of their students receive loans or grants, contrasted with 2/3 of Kenyon students), and $10,000 cheaper, and Centre looks like it's doing a bang-up job.
